ANTARES is a high-energy neutrino telescope operating 12 detection lines at 2500m offshore the coast of Toulon (South of France). Since 2007, ANTARES is taken very good quality data continuously. This dataset is quite unique to study the origin of the high-energy neutrino sources. In the recent years, IceCube and ANTARES have detected several association between neutrinos and highly energetic blazars (AGN with their jet pointing toward the Earth). Even if there is no significant association (> 5?), this represents the first hint toward the high-energy neutrino astronomy.

During this internship, the student will study in detail the potential correlation between the different neutrino streams of ANTARES (using 14 years of data) and blazar catalogues detected by radio or gamma-ray instruments. These studies will include the search of time-dependent correlation with highly energetic blazars, the search of correlation with different blazar populations (FSRQ, BL Lacs, HBL, IBL…).

The analyses will be performed using C++ or python and Root on Linux platforms.
