The ITER project is aimed at demonstrating the scientific and technological feasibility of fusion energy for peaceful purposes. This presentation will describe the mission goals of the ITER project, the tokamak concept to provide magnetic confinement of a hot plasma to produce fusion energy, and the detailed Research Plan to achieve these goals. An emphasis will be placed on the ITER Heating and Current Drive systems and the Integrated Modelling and Analysis Suite.
