imXgam

The X and Gamma Imaging team (imXgam) conducts interdisciplinary research activities for ionizing radiation imaging applications in the field of health and energy. These are based on the expertise in electronics and instrumentation of IN2P3, capitalizing its development for large instruments dedicated to high energy physics.

In this context, the imXgam team has built several generations of hybrid pixel cameras for various applications in crystallography and biomedical imaging. We contribute to the development of data acquisition electronics for positron detection by pixelated probes and for rapid gamma imaging in hadrontherapy and we are involved in the development of a Compton camera for nuclear dismantling and hadrontherapy operations.

The imXgam team is a member of the Crystal Clear collaboration and the OpenGATE collaboration, which develop and maintain the GATE simulation platform. At the national level, the research themes of the imXgam team fit into the context of the activities of the Modeling and Instrumentation GDR for Biomedical Imaging (MI2B).

  • First images in K-edge in vivo of iodine-labeled mice with the prototype PIXSCAN, then study and construction of the PIXSCAN-FLI prototype financed by France Life Imaging (FLI) for the development of X-ray spectral tomography. Computing and Data

The Computing and Data team was created in 2018 with the goal of conducting research and development activities in the field of large scale distributed computing and data management systems. Distributed computing systems were introduced in order to support the needs of large scientific collaborations like LHC experiments. CPPM made major contributions to the design and development of the this kind of systems, DIRAC project, for the LHCb Collaboration. This system now forms the basis for the activities of the Computing and Data team for the research of optimized algorithms for managing computing and storage resources for various scientific applications. In particular, the team focuses on so-called « Big Data » applications with the accent on management large data volumes distributed in multiple centers in the world.

The Computing and Data team develops innovative tools and services for intergation new types of resources, using cloud and supercomputer technologies, into large computing infrastructures like France-Grilles national grid or European Open Science Cloud (EOSC-Hub)
